There are many specialties in Veterinary Medicine that are similar to those in human medicine, like Radiology, Medicine, Surgery, and Emergency and Critical Care. Key responsibilities include diagnosing illnesses in a variety of animals, prescribing the appropriate treatment, knowing the laws surrounding animals and their welfare. Veterinary surgery procedures fall into three broad categories: orthopaedics (bones, joints, muscles), soft tissue surgery (skin, body cavities, cardiovascular system, GI, respiratory tracts ,urogenital etc), and neurosurgery.
